How Ask His Friends collects and records consent.

This page describes how Ask His Friends collects and records express consent as required by our Privacy Policy, Section 5.

When Consent Is Collected

Consent is collected:

The first time a user signs in after creating an account
Again whenever the Privacy Policy or Terms of Service are materially updated (the system tracks which version each user has accepted)

Users cannot access the Service until consent is provided.

What the User Sees

During sign-in, users are presented with a consent modal containing:

A scrollable preview of the Terms of Service, with a checkbox: "I have read and agree to the Terms of Service."
A scrollable preview of the Privacy Policy, with a checkbox: "I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy."

Both checkboxes must be checked before the user can continue. Neither checkbox is pre-checked.

Sensitive Personal Information

By agreeing to the Privacy Policy, users provide express consent to the processing of sensitive personal information as described in the Privacy Policy, Sections 2 and 5. This includes religious beliefs, spiritual reflections, and emotional content shared in conversations.

How Consent Is Recorded

When the user checks both boxes and continues:

The version of each policy accepted is recorded on the user's account
The timestamp of acceptance is recorded
A short-lived continuation token ensures the acceptance step cannot be bypassed or replayed

If either policy is later updated to a new version, the user will be prompted to review and accept the updated version on their next sign-in.

Withdrawal of Consent

Users may withdraw consent at any time by deleting their account through the profile menu. Withdrawal of consent results in:

Closure of the account
Deletion of all conversational content
Deletion of all associated personal data

Retention after deletion is limited to what is described in the Privacy Policy, Section 10.

Relationship to the Privacy Policy

This page describes the current consent implementation. The Privacy Policy is the governing document. If there is any conflict between this description and the Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy prevails.
